PHOENIXVILLE FEDERAL CELEBRATES GIVING

PHOENIXVILLE, PA – The Board of Directors of Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust is pleased to continue its annual tradition of giving back to the community. On Wednesday evening, January 19th, over fifty representatives from local non-profit and community organizations were in attendance at the First Annual Celebration of Giving Reception.

The event was held at the bank’s Conference Center located on Nutt Road in Phoenixville and was catered by Robert Ryan Catering.

Richard A. Kunsch, CEO/Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, spoke briefly about the role of a community bank. “Phoenixville Federal is an institution committed to the economic health and quality of life in Phoenixville and the surrounding communities in which we serve.” Kunsch went on to explain that, “Financial decisions and community investments for the Phoenixville and surrounding communities are made by local decision-makers. Local deposits become local loans; it is hometown money recycling at its finest.”

According to P. Douglas Darlington, President/COO, more than sixty-five local non-profit organizations received checks in 2010, totaling in excess of $124,000. Since the tithing program was implemented nearly twelve years ago, Phoenixville Federal has donated over $1.5 million.

Expressing his appreciation to those gathered, Darlington said, “Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of you in this room. I’ve seen first-hand how important each organization is to the success of our community.” He continued, “Many of our employees volunteer right along side of you, helping to make a difference in our neighborhoods.”

Major recipients for 2010 included $15,000 to the Freedom Valley YMCA, $10,000 to the Phoenixville Public Library, $7,900 to Valley Forge Christian College, $7,500 each to the Association for the Colonial Theatre and Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, $5,400 to the Phoenixville Community Education Foundation, $5,000 to The Clinic, Owen J. Roberts School District Education Foundation, Spring Ford School District Education Foundation, Perkiomen Valley School District, and $3,000 to the Good Samaritan Shelter.

In addition, contributions were also made to area libraries, historical societies, youth athletic leagues, educational organizations, civic groups, art and music associations, nature centers, student college scholarships and several area fire, ambulance and police departments.
